40 Year Event
We have now received a grant of £1915 from Hampshire and Isles of Wight Community Foundation to stage the event on Five Acres. A lot to do for the committee who will be finalising details. Watch this space!

Past Newsletters
We have put our past newsletters on the site so you can now look at the issues from 2003 onwards. Issue 2 from February seems to have disappeared but the rest make interesting reading (or not?). See how we started off and some old photos.

Lordshill rec - amendment
Some of you may have seen, from the flyers included with the Advertiser, that the meetings are not as posted on our web site. This has now been altered. There is still a chance to go to a discussion. The one on Thursday 6th was very helpful.

Five Acres and School proposals
City Council are asking opinions and giving information about the proposed school to be built on Five Acres.
There will be several chances for residents to contribute or find out facts. Drop in sessions will take place at Millbrook site on Thursday 6 Nov 4.00 - 6.00. At Oaklands Tuesday 11 Nov 6.00 - 8.00.
Also on the car park on Redbridge Lane, Five Acres on Sat 8 Nov 1100.
If you want more details go to the City web site. www.southampton.gov.uk
We urge all who want to make their opinions known or who want full information on proposals, not just rumour, to take the opportunity to attend one of these meetings.

Play Park
This message was sent to Sean Holehouse of Play Areas. We will let you know of any response.
Sean,
We were delighted when the play park at Jersey Close was constructed, it looked great. When subsequently some of the shrubs were uprooted we did our best to replant them; however the situation there now is very dismal and we are appealing to you to make some improvements/restitution.
We understand that you and your team must be disheartened and frustrated that your efforts are not appreciated by all, but they are a minority and most residents want a park that they are proud of. We also realise that there are restrictions of seasonal influences and ask that you look into and let us know what the possibilities are.
The misuse of the basket swing is very regrettable as this was one of the most popular items (too popular with some, hence its removal).

We are on the map now!
Click on Find us to get a satelite view of the Estate. It isn’t right up to date as the play area is not there and it shows my old vehicle but hey! zoom around and see the local area as if from a plane!

Event
We have discovered that the Channl Isles Estate was finished in 1969 — so that means 2009 is the 40th anniversary. We want to celebrate this by doing something quite big, proposed date is 2 August 2009. This is still in the early planning stages so nothing fixed yet.
Would you like to be involved?
We want to find out who has lived on the estate longest.
Do you have any early photos?
Who has the largest extended family here?
